Announcing ‘A Pilgrimage of Swords’ – A New Fantasy Novella from Subterranean Press

I’m pleased to announce that my fantasy novella A Pilgrimage of Swords will be published by Subterranean Press in September 2019.

Description:

ENTER THE EXECRATION,

WHERE THE DAMNED AND THE DESPERATE

COME TO PRAY TO THE MAD GOD…

It is two hundred years since the deity known as the Absolved went mad and destroyed the Kingdom of Alnachim, transforming it into the Execration, a blasted wasteland filled with nameless terrors. For decades, desperate souls have made pilgrimage to the centre of this cursed land to seek the Mad God’s favour, their fate always unknown.

Now a veteran warrior known only as Pilgrim, armed with a fabled blade inhabited by the soul of a taunting demon, must join with six others to make the last journey to the heart of the Execration. Allied with a youthful priest, a beast-charmer, a duplicitous scholar, an effete actor and two exiled lovers, Pilgrim must survive madness, malevolent spirits, unnatural monsters and the ever-present risk of treachery, all so that the Mad God might hear his prayer and, perhaps, grant redemption. But can sins such as his ever be forgiven?

Set in a world where demons and gods walk the earth, A Pilgrimage of Swords is a dark and exciting fantasy adventure from the New York Times bestselling author of the Raven’s Shadow and Draconis Memoria trilogies.

Thanks to my editor Yanni Kuznia and everyone at Subterranean for the efforts in bringing this to fruition. Thanks also to the always excellent Didier Graffet for his spectacular cover illustration. You can view more of Didier’s work here: https://www.alanlynchartists.com/didier-graffet

Check out the announcement on the Subterranean Press website to pre-order one of only 26 signed and lettered leatherbound copies, housed in a custom traycase, or one of 1000 signed and numbered hardcovers. The novella will also be released in ebook. No news yet on an audio version but watch this space for any news on that front.

Also, thanks to the mailing list subscribers who entered the Empire of Ashes signed UK paperback giveaway. The winners have now been chosen and notified, check your spam folder to make sure you haven’t missed out on a prize. Join my mailing list to ensure you don’t miss out on future giveaways.

Anthony Ryan’s debut novel Blood Song – book one of the Raven’s Shadow series – took the fantasy world by storm. The sequels, Tower Lord and Queen of Fire were both New York Times bestsellers. Now, Anthony Ryan returns to the world of this acclaimed fantasy series with The Wolf’s Call, which begins a thrilling new story of razor-sharp action and epic adventure.

PEACE NEVER LASTS

Vaelin Al Sorna is a living legend, his name known across the Realm. It was his leadership that overthrew empires, his blade that won hard-fought battles – and his sacrifice that defeated an evil more terrifying than anything the world had ever seen. He won titles aplenty, only to cast aside his earned glory for a quiet life in the Realm’s northern reaches.

Yet whispers have come from across the sea – rumours of an army called the Steel Horde, led by a man who believes himself a god. Vaelin has no wish to fight another war, but when he learns that Sherin, the woman he lost long ago, has fallen into the Horde’s grasp, he resolves to confront this powerful new threat.

To this end, Vaelin travels to the realms of the Merchant Kings, a land ruled by honour and intrigue. There, as the drums of war thunder across kingdoms riven by conflict, Vaelin learns a terrible truth: that there are some battles that even he cannot hope to win.’

In other news, because it’s that time of year, I’m running a mailing list giveaway for two signed, lined and dated US hardcovers of The Empire of Ashes, Book Three of The Draconis Memoria. Existing mailing list subscribers are automatically entered. If you’re not a subscriber, go here to sign up. Many Are the Dead – All New Raven’s Shadow Novella Now Available

Many Are the Dead – A Raven’s Shadow Novella is now available.

“The Faith requires all we have.”

New York Times bestselling author Anthony Ryan returns to the Raven’s Shadow world in this prequel novella set ten years before the events in Blood Song.

For decades the brothers of the Sixth Order have fought a savage war against the Lonak clans amidst the frozen peaks of their Dominion.

When word reaches the north of a fresh outbreak of the dreaded Red Hand, Brother Sollis, the finest swordsman in the Order, leads a small band to a long-abandoned castle in search of a potential cure, but discovers a far greater threat lurking in the mountains.

Enemies become allies as Sollis leads an increasingly desperate fight against an inhuman enemy steeped in the power of the Dark.

‘Brilliantly written… Anyone who has read Blood Song will adore this.’ – Fantasy Book Review.

One Million Books – Signed Blood Song First Edition Celebratory Giveaway

This week I carried out a long overdue review of my sales figures and it turns out that, thanks to The Empire of Ashes, I’ve now sold over one million books in English worldwide. It all feels a bit surreal given that it doesn’t seem that long ago when I wrote this post about reaching the what I once thought to be the impossibly out of reach goal of surpassing ten thousand sales, but I guess six years is a long time in publishing.

For all the data freaks out there, here’s a percentage breakdown of those sales by format:
