I enjoyed your post very much. I’m not quite as big a fan of Gemmell as you appear to be, but it was an enjoyable read 🙂

Love your book! Love it! I’m a long time fan of David Gemmell and I enjoyed your post. I have a very difficult time finding books similar to Gemmell’s. I also enjoy Patrick Rothfuss and I am so happy to have discovered Blood Song. It’s just so damn hard to sift through all the fantasy books to find genuine “heroic fantasy”. Do you have any recommendations? If so it’s truly appreciated. Thank you for your literary contribution. Your writing excites my soul!

Thanks Brandon. My favourite (non-Gemmell) fantasy list currently reads as follows:
The Farseer Trilogy – Robin Hobb
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant – Stephen Donaldson
A Song of Ice and Fire – George RR Martin
The Prince of Nothing & The Aspect Emperor – R. Scott Bakker
The Dark Tower – Stephen King
Memory, Sorrow & Thorn – Tad Williams
      The Sandman – Neil Gaiman
The Prydain Chronicles – Lloyd Alexander
      The Belgariad – David Eddings

In terms of ‘heroic fantasy’ though you might want to check out Michael J. Sullivan’s Riyra Chronicles. Also, not fantasy but Conn Iggulden’s historical novels have a decidedly Gemmellian feel to them.

      Thanks Again,
      Anthony
